Intern at UCP National!

Founded in 1949, United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), is one of the nation’s oldest health care related non-profit organizations. UCP works to promote the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and other conditions, through an affiliate network.

UCP’s national office supports our affiliate network (located throughout the United States and Canada) through marketing and communications, fundraising, and programmatic support. We also provide leadership through information/referral and public policy, as well as public education initiatives.

We offer internships for motivated college students in the DC area throughout the year.

Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas including, but not limited to:

  • Affiliate Services/Public Education and Outreach
  • Development/Fundraising
  • Marketing/Communications
  • Public Policy
  • Information and Referral Services

Among the many advantages of working here include the metro-accessible location at Farragut North and Farragut West in the heart of Washington D.C.; friendly, hardworking staff; and flexibility – we want you to enjoy your internship, so the program is tailored to your strengths and interests.

Ideal candidates for this internship are:

  • Interested in non-profits and/or disability issues
  • Self-starters
  • Creative and ready to think outside the box
  • Ready and willing to learn
  • Willing to pitch in where help is needed
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Internships are offered on a rolling basis throughout the year. Interns should be able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week during their internship.

Internship positions are unpaid; however, interns may receive academic credit if permitted by their university!

Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply, however, we welcome anyone with a passion for disability-related issues to apply for an internship at UCP National.
To apply, each applicant must submit a resume, a writing sample, and a cover letter (including availability– start dates and weekly hours/schedule), detailing why they are interested in this internship via email to info@UCP.org using the subject line fall 2017 internship application.

Please note Fall internships with UCP national will begin October 1 or later.

Please feel free to contact Karin Hitselberger at (202)-973-7180 or info@UCP.org to submit your application, or if you have any questions!
